I don't disagree with you at all. I was a CLC long before I was an IBCLC.
This is where I gained so much of my experience!  I was more mimicking what
happens in most hospitals not what I feel the CLC is qualified to do as
opposed to the IBCLC. In some instances, they are certainly equally
qualified. I have seen the work shared by both the IBCLC and the CLC. The
tougher cases are delegated to the IBCLC not to diminish the qualifications
of the CLC but more to simply split the load. There is not always an IBCLC
available, and the CLC can certainly manage the tougher cases as well.
