I have a more difficult question? Why do so many BABIES choose not to
breastfeed? 
OK, I know all those poor little souls who had such a difficult birth
that they can't get it together on the first day or so.  Or those whose
moms had to rest that first night and asked that the baby be bottle fed
which really got them sucking the wrong way and they could not latch
well at first.  But, what about those who had a totally natural birth,
no complications, were with mom most of the time, did not get anything
plastic or silicone in their mouths, and still……..can't get the latch.  
What is going on? I am seeing more and more of those, and I have no
explanation.  I would love to hear what the baby's excuses are.    And
believe me, I can latch a baby onto a wall if he is willing.
