I was wondering if any of you who have Medela pumps in your hospital or business have ever noticed a funny suction-breaking sound when the mom is pumping? It is almost a "fart" sound, for lack of a better word! I have noticed this a lot lately, and am wondering if it has something to do with the lowered milk supplies I am seeing in a few moms who are long-term pumping.

It is definitely something with the kit, and not the actual machine. We have switched to several different machines, and the same noise occurs. Even changing the flange size to the smaller insert doesn't make a difference.

Well, I hope someone can give me insight on this. Thanks!

Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
