Just a correction to this: the AAP recommends breastfeeding for the
at least first year of life, not as "ideal" but as normal, and
thereafter for as long as mother and child wish. The six-month period
is for exclusive breastfeeding, i.e. no ABM or complementary foods at
all.

It would be great if the AAP and similar organisations around the
world would finally accept the World Health Organisation's
recommendation of breastfeeding to two years and beyond.
