The BFing community should see this for what it is: companies using a
*very* obvious
loophole created by the very organizations who are "reading the Code at its
face." Who else should make these tough calls? The judicial systems of
various countries? I expect that the expert organizations within the BFing
community ought to take the stand first, before we expect anyone on the
outside to do the same.

ILCA isn't serving the Code, nor its members, by taking an abstract view of
the Code and its own rules. By being so black-and-white with these
readings, we invite the violators to take advantage of the very ideals we're
trying to enforce. On the other hand, by reading the Code and rules on a
case-by-case basis, we can offer stronger and more sound judgments on how
entities comply with them.

What we don't need is the Code to be taken for its parts, thus leaving
behind the meaning of its whole intent and purpose. ILCA would be serving
its members and the BFing community (and thus the world community who might
call on its expertise on the subject) by making these calls with that in
mind, rather than falling on individual parts of the Code where it's
convenient (for whatever reason; advertising dollars, not making waves, not
wanting to take a position that might reverberate in both of those areas for
the foreseeable future).

(in PA, calling a spade a spade and hoping the larger orgs in the BFing
community will eventually follow suit)
