Pacifier use is rampant here. Many many babies are fussing and squirming
and the mother/father/family member holding the baby are giving the
pacifier instead of breastfeeding. Mothers are complaining the babies are
not satisfied. All mother/baby factors appear normal.

Most mothers come with a nursing pillow. I don't like or use them. Luckily,
many mothers have left them in the car but many also have them at the ready
or are using them (poorly). We need a campaign about "all baby needs is
you" something like that.

A recent case where pump test possibly could have been used to ascertain 24
hr milk production: normal mother baby other than mother smoked. Term, vag
birth. Baby gaining weight at 6 day checkup in our followup clinic and at 2
wk visit with pediatrician, exclusive breastfeeding. Next visit at peds
would be 2 months. In between at 6wks mother brings baby to doctor or ER
for voiding blood (it was not blood but dark urine). Baby had lost 1 lb.
Exclusively breastfeeding. (With hospital grade pump, Ameda Platinum,
pumping every 2 hrs mom got 14 ml approx each time. No one could figure out
how her milk just dried up. I talked with mom, she had started birth
control PATCHES (estrogen) at 4 wk OB visit. My understanding was baby also
had UTI.
