We had a mom who was negative for Hep B in her early pregnancy but in labor was symptomatic and tested positive. She was not permitted to breastfeed by the GI Dr. and the infection control nurse. Our Director refused to let us speak with the Dr. or the mom stating we needed to just stay out of it and how did we know about it anyway, who told us, "this is a breach of patient confidentiality".

Any comments? Can someone forward this to Jack Newman as I do not know how to email him these days.

Thanks.
