To those of you who work in an NICU, I am looking for information on your guidelines on continuous feedings of breastmilk.
How long do you hang the milk before you change the syringe and tubing?
What type of tubing do you use?
How do you handle the cost of frequent tubing changes?
I work in a level 3 nursery and at present we use the set up for 8 hours and them change it all. Formula is run for 12 hours and then just the bag/syringe is changed. Though, from what I have read, it would seem the breast milk would be the safer of the two to leave for more then 8 hours.
Please e-mail me privately, which would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Esther RN. IBCLC, from Michigan.
