Another article from a research paper that mentions bedsharing as being
dangerous

Bruising Rare in Infants Smothered by Overlayin

The researcher noted that about one half of American families reportedly
share a bed with their infants for some period of time. "Children under the
age of 2 sleeping in an adult bed with someone is a big risk," Dr. Collins
said. "If they're in a proper bed by themselves, rarely do you see this."
