I got the physio speech and language therapist involved
and she has been using her techniques to absolutely no avail to get any
sort of suction going on this little moppet. She has tossed the ball back
in my court and has said she can't do anything more. I don't want to
commit this mother to only gastric feeds of breastmilk at the breast, any
suggestions or text books, or references would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Friends:
What a situation. If the best way this baby can be fed right now is
gastric feeds of human milk at breast, please sustain that.
What about a pediatric neurologist evaluation of this baby? If a baby
can't suck or swallow, only a physician can find out what is going on, not an
LC or OT or SLP.
Perhaps the cardiac defect is so severe the baby can't sustain the
aerobic activity of breastfeeding?
