I am in the same "not to sure" corner as Jane Kershaw. It is not only a question of 3-dimensional interpretation, but one of physics. I admit I have only my vague memories of high school physics and the internet to help me, but here goes:

<demonstrated with a 3D biophysical model that infants suck breast milk by subatmospheric pressures>

Vacuum does not pull;other forces push.

<the anterior tongue, which is wedged between the nipple–areola complex and the lower lips, moves as a rigid body with the cycling motion of the mandible>

which then makes use of Pascal's law:

Which leads us to the current emphasis on recognizing the importance of tongue-tie in the newborn. for many reasons, one of which is comfortable and effective breastfeeding.

(Of course, this opinion rests on the fact that I also believe in lactiferous sinuses, (which by the pressure of the tip of the tongue and mandible described in the article, create conditions for the application of Pascal's law) and that they, like other parts of the human reproductive system, undergo changes during various phases of reproduction. They can be seen under the microscope in the breasts of children and adults of both sexes, and can still be seen under the microscope in the breast specimens of postmenopausal women.)

Time to stop playing with my friends and get back to work on my commitment.
