As a fellow psoriasis sufferer with outbreaks on skin, in my eyes and joints, I can empathize. I TOTALLY recommend she have her vitamin D level checked. Mine was extremely low. After therapeutic dosages and careful monitoring with adjustments of daily doses according to blood levels, I have better control. What is characterized as "eczema" could really be psoriasis. I find that any area of my body that gets chafed can develop the redness, itching, peeling etc that looks like eczema or even yeast. Steroid creams and vitamin D creams have helped as temporary measures when my blood level gets low (by reason of my old-age forgetfulness, lol!). I have found certain forms of vitamin d supplements (the carrier oil matters in my case) are more effective than others. Vitamin D from the sun is the best, of course. Hope something helps!

Subject: Eczema on nipples

Hi all, My friend has been struggling with nipple eczema for about 6 weeks now. She tried to avoid steroid cream but has now resorted to it. The eczema started when she was pregnant then went away. Her baby is now 15 months. Mum also has outbreaks of psoriasis. This is her 3rd baby. She has had no bother before.Any thoughts would be appreciated. I looked up the 'Breastfeeding Atlas'. Only one case is mentioned and steroid cream was used successfully to treat the eczema. My friend was sent to specialist clinic to check what the problem was then and told it was eczema when she was pregnant. Her toddler feeds loads.Thank you in advance,Sarah McCann,Carrickfergus,Northern Ireland.www.BreastfeedingResourcesNI.co.uk
