Sorry this reply is so late. I have been out of town for a few days...

In his original message, Rob wrote, "Do many of you have success with the
SNS? I have few moms willing to even try and fewer who do well with it"

Whether or not a mom has success with an SNS really depends on a few things.
First, what is mom's situation? Is it a temporary low supply or is it a
congenital defect that will prevent her from ever achieving a full supply?
Using the SNS long term definatly takes more effoert that using it for a few
days. Second, what is defined as success? Is success having a loving
breastfeeding relationship with human milk as a bonus or is success a full
milk supply? Third, how determined is the mom to persevere? The SNS is
very awkward at first and takes some practice. (It really isn't any more
difficult than bottles, just less common and not as familiar.) I used an
SNS for 11 months with my daughter, never achieving full supply, but I
consider the experience successful because I was able to nurse my daughter
and she is now at 14 months nursing without it. So, I guess you have to
read your moms and determine who is willing to go to the extra effort, and
what their long term goals are...
