Regarding Turner's Syndrome. As with other genetic disorders, this one has
many degrees and manifestations. I have a niece with Turner's who is now
six. She weighs almost 30 pounds. 6lb 13oz at birth which was in line with
her 2 siblings. She was not diagnosed until she was almost 2yo. Many
Turner's girls are not diagnosed until the should be reaching puberty and
they don't. My neice refused solid foods until after 13 months. She also
weighed about 16 pounds at a year. I don't know if she experience a slow
down at nine monnths. But she started getting teeth really early (at about 2
months). She has a few of the tell tale signs Barbara mentioned but you
would not realize it until they were pointed out. She has had some health
problems associated with the disorder including having heart valve surgery
at 4 years. She still is very finicky about food.
Are these people seeing a genetic specialist? If so, what does he think
about her growth up to now? There is a Turner's Growth chart, I believe. My
neice is about to start Human Growth hormone. They have estimated her
maximum height at around 4 feet 6 inches. My sister really agonized over
that one. I am sure my sister would be willing to e-mail you with
particulars. Contact me privately if that would help.
