I am not an IBCLC, so please take the following as a sisterly, though
objective, view.

How can anyone remain a registered IBCLC if she takes gifts or
lunches or 'education' from formula sales people?

I don't mean 'how can she remain....' in ethical terms, I mean in
practical terms - shouldn't she have her registration terminated?
Snip. Just like that.

Volunteer organisations have codes of conduct which oblige their
workers to follow the WHO code and other ethical behaviours. We are
not permitted to take anything from a formula company. I am surprised
this does not apply to lactation professionals, as well.

In the UK, sadly, the professional organisations of midwives and
health visitors do take money themselves from the companies, and
allow their members to take it, too. But they are regularly
criticised for doing so, and many of their members are aware that it
affects their credibility.

And people can be bought so cheap.....a lunch bag? A lunch? A pen? A cup?

Pah.
