A friend of mine in our breastfeeding coalition has a question for our group.
Her 4 year old daughter has suffered from near life threatening allergies
and exzema since she was about 18 mo. Her mother nursed her until she was 8
mo. when she went on a nursing strike and refused to continue to nurse
despite her mothers determination. My friend has been considering
relactating to see if this would help her condition. She admits to having
mixed feelings and is trying to sort out her feelings about the commitment
this would entail for her. Her daughter is aware of nursing and has not
refused, although there are some power issues between them. Has anyone here
worked with mothers who have tried this? She would have lots of support from
immediate family and has access to a pump.
