Funny you should ask :-) At this mo peds meeting 2 peds (1 male, 1 female)
complained bitterly that the nurses don't jump when they come in and round
up their babies! One of the few things I like about our new ultra modern
nursery is that it has a portable opthalmascope and I can grab it and run to
mom's room. (In the old nursery it was hooked to the wall :-( I am such a
believer in non separation of mother and baby. It's my mantra. Of course
L& D are on another floor with all those separation issues :-(
I don't know, maybe it takes me a little longer to do it my way, but I chat
with mom and find out all sorts of things while I'm undressing (and
dressing!) baby.(and yes, the diaper is usually dirty :-) Most peds do
things differently and miss these opportunities and teaching moments. Of
course this is MHO :-) Pat in SNJ
