Please forgive me for requesting information unrelated to breastfeeding, I know
someone here will be able to help.
The daughter of a friend at 14 months has been diagnosed with a dislocated hip.
Her traetment, due to start in about 10 days consists of 2 weeks in traction
followed by a total of 9 months in plaster (hip to ankle). The plaster will be
removed under general anaesthetic 4 times and re-set with her legs at a
different angle.
My friend has coped very well and has access to good practical help but she is
concerned about the anaesthetics: 4 general anaestheics in 9 months on a child
so small.
She and I are completely clueless. If she wer to talk to the anaesthetist( I
have encouraged her to do so) she would not know what to ask.
Can someone please tell me what sort of anaesthetics are used on such small
patient?. Possible side effects?Dangers? possible alternatives? and anything
else useful.
 Please Email me privately.
