I worked with a Mom who had reoccurring mastitis the first 6 months. She
would feel better and then within a day or 2 she was right back there with
the flu like symptoms and hot tender breast.

She wanted to continue nursing and was at her wits end. I suggested to her
that instead of quitting all together why not just try nursing the unaffected
side and just let the other one dry up.

2 months later when I checked with her she was still nursing off the one
side. I no longer have contact with her, but I'm sure she nursed at least to
the one year mark on the one side.
