Lisa gave us a beautiful description of how skin to skin (sts) can help
a baby go to breast.  When I see a baby that still "has no clue the free
ride is over and he has to work for food", I always encourage Mom to
spend as much time as possible sts with the baby.  One recent case gave
me a chuckle.  When I went in the following day, Dad couldn't wait to
tell me what had happened.  I had seen them early afternoon the first
day after which  Mom snuggled baby sts all the time she was in bed.  Dad
stayed the night in the fold-out bed.  At about 2 AM he was wakened by
Mom shouting "He's doing it!".  Sure enough, baby had squirmed his way
over and attached with little help from her.  They went on to have a
happy nursing experience.
