Back in May or June of 1985, in the NICU at Riley Children's Hospital in
Indiana, some of my milk (several days worth) was given to someone else's
baby (or perhaps to more than one baby) instead of to my son. They told me
-- as they had run out of my pumped milk way before they should have, and
had to give Peter formula instead! I don't think they told the mothers of
the other babies, in fact I'm sure they didn't, and I was not asked to
submit to any kind of testing. It was treated as "Whoops, sorry 'bout
that."

I should say that Riley Children's Hospital was wonderful to me and to
Peter, and he received most excellent care there. They had an electric pump
for moms to use, and were very supportive of moms who were breastfeeding and
providing human milk for their sick babies.
