In all our discussions about the situation of the mother with acute and
total bone marrow failure, we should remember that we are getting the
reports third-hand at best. None of us has been in the room when the mother
was informed, or not, about her condition or her treatment. Of course it is
possible she hasn't been given good information, or even any information,
but it is also within the realm of possibility that the information was
given, but that there were hindrances to her taking it in. It is even
possible she was given information in writing, but didn't register it
mentally.
I bet most of us would hate to know that care we had given was being
discussed and judged in a forum of thousands, on the basis of indirect
reports from non-eyewitnesses. The only thing we can say with one hundred
percent certainty here, or in any similar (hearsay) discussion on LN, is
that we only have part of the picture. I hope the team treating this woman
has more of the picture than we do, and it's reasonable to assume they have.
