<< As far as insurance companies determining what IBCLCs are competent or not
to
do -- hey -- they make those determinations all the time with physicians,
with what medical tests you can and cannot have, with the length of time you
can stay in the hospital, with which specialist you may or may not see, with
what treatments you may or may not have. Why should we be any different?

No way honey -- get your back back up! All they determine is what you CAN
have -- that is, what they will pay for -- not what you MAY have or what you
are COMPETENT to do. Your board certification might be said to determine
your real competence, and the law, or other extralegal codes yo subject
yourself to like ILCA standards, determines what you MAY do. But all the
insurance determines is who gets the bucks.

Heaven knows that's bad enough -- no sense exaggerating it worse; it only
lets them off the hook --

easy for me to be feisty -- I don't have to deal with medical insurance,
except as a patient...
