They are not law yet, this is true - they are bills. I believe we reffered
to it as such. Anything that has not been passed is not yet law. That is
likely true anyplace in the US. Im sure that's why formula companies havn't
really mobilized to do anything just yet. I can assure you they (formula
companies) have some well placed and well paid lobbyists who will go
wherever they are needed, including to Austin Texas.

WIC in Texas, thankfully has a some wonderful breastfeeding support. I have
had the pleasure of meeting some of these people in a couple of trainings I
took through WIC. I am sure that these people in Austin are working to make
sure that lawmakers are well informed and advised as to the impact the bill
has the potential to make on WIC, medicaid and state healthcare coffers.

I am working on drafting letters - if anyone else is interested in writing
please do it! At this time the bills are both in committee - both committese
are Health related, and they must pass these committees first before they go
any further. I would encourage those in Texas who want to write to write to
the members of the committees, and then to write to your own state
representatives.
If you would like to locate the names of committee members, or your reps,
you can do so here:

Reinforcing the economic impact that these bills could have the on the
taxpayers dollars is important in any communication with the representatives
and committee members. These guys have money to think about and it's
important to them. Most of them don't have the time to be interested in the
emotional and attachment parts. (Except maybe for the studies that show less
abuse meaning less money spent in CPS services?)
