At first this sounds like a terrific idea. On further
consideration, I wonder about changes from year to year so that one
might not be giving current info if an older copy was used. In the
years BH (before Hale) I splurged and got Briggs, Freeman and
Jaffe's books. Each time a new one came out, I went through both
old and new and noted all the references where the newer edition
differed before I would pass the older book on. In some cases, the
recommendations on a particular med had changed considerably as from
"no concern" to "use with caution" or in some cases vice versa.
With BFJ we were talking about $80 books, so recycling made a lot of
sense. Hale is so inexpensive I would rather see people get the
current copy. Perhaps passing an old one along with the warning
that there is more current information, the older book is passed
along only to let that party see what a great resource it is, but
that we don't guanantee it's the most current info would be the
prudent approach.
