"I have found that many mom's who have difficulty pumping are stiff
as boards
through their shoulders and neck. Once they relax, the pumping
improves,
supply improves, engorgement and plugged ducts improve."

I am a firm believer in interscapular massage to help milk flow. I
encourage Dad or any other support person to stand behind mom, rest
their hands on her shoulders, and massage between her shoulder
blades with their thumbs. I have seen a pumping mom go from drips
to streams with this massage. It really helps her relax her rib
cage which helps the flow. And Dad can see an immediate benefit of
something he is doing.
