Ooops! Sorry to pester the RDs again. I thought that apples were a fairly
good source for Vitamin C. Was I wrong? I have also heard that potatoes
have a goodly amount of Vitamin C, but do they lose it in cooking? In
Israel, fruits and vegetables are relatively cheap and available, and
people are not as "spoiled" as Americans in expecting everything to be
ready-made and prepared for them, so are used to buying fresh and
preparing themselves for baby (eg, grating apples, cooking potatoes and
giving chunks as fingerfood). As a matter of course, I have been telling
moms that citrus and tomatoes are pretty allergenic, so they should give their
babies other fruits and vegetables as natural sources for Vit. C.
I apologize again for my ignorance in the basics. Judy K. in Israel
