I don't find time to contribute very often to Lactnet but I would like to
put a plug in for an absolutely free pillow - the mum's body. When a mother
starts with her baby really close to her own body the baby can more easily
take in lots of breast tissue. I am not saying that the occasional use of a
pillow is not helpful but that most times mothers don't need a pillow to
breastfeed. This is especially true when mothers use the cradle hold as her
arm is supported ergonomically against her body and the baby's weight is
spread across her body also. This does not hold true so much for the
transition hold as the opposite arm to the breast is not being used as
ergonomically well - not supported by the mother's body and often carrying
the baby's weight.

 Just my 'two bobs worth'.
