My son was born just after a Vermont blizzard. The nurse hadn't seen a baby
born since nursing school. She weighed him in at 7 lb 1 oz. Eighteen hours
later, ready to go home, he weighed 7-10. "La Leche League Leader -- good
colostrum."
Heaven only knows what he weighed. I think of it often though because we
are still asked, "Birth weight?" I Always say, "Birth wt 7-1, D/C wt 7-10."
We just laugh. Dawn Kersula in souther Vermont where it smells like
spring this morning. (Just a teaser, spring here is actually April 28-June
