I am a FT Lactation Consultant in a? hospital setting.?(about 2000 deliveries/yr)? While I am the only LC exclusively working lactation, we have two other RN/IBCLC's working in the newborn nursery.? I now see outpaitients on an as-needed basis without charge.? We are interested in expanding and billing for this service and perhaps increasting lactation staff.
A few questions for those of you who are offering outpatient service and billing insurances companies:
?????? If you offer outpatient services how is it structured?? Through an exisiting clinic setting?? Through a medical provider??Through an?advanced practice provider?
????? ?What CPT codes have you been successful billing for?
???????Has this service assisted with patient education and success with breastfeeding throught 6 months of age??
TIA for any info you can give us.
