I am sorry that Nikki has had such bad experiences with MDs. Times do change
- faster in some areas of the country (USA) and world than others. Most MDs
listen to and value RN, RT, PT, OT, MSW, LC, etc. input. I couldn't care for
my patients in the NICU adequately without it.

How I receive the input varies with how it is presented, how the patient is
doing at the moment, and how tired I am. I have been "written up" (formal
complaint to administration followed by investigation and counseling) by RNs a few
times for my word choices or tone of voice after I have been up for 24+ hrs
and the RN suggests something that the 3 prior RNs caring for the infant asked
or requested and got an answer (with explanation) to.

MDs are no longer "Gods" (if they ever were!). We are required to show the
same courtesy and teamwork as everyone else in a hospital or practice. But
please do not suggest kangaroo care on one baby when I am directing a code on
another.
