Quote from a posting today:
-Always put baby to breast BEFORE attempting bottle-feeding.

Don't I wish! Our Neos push BFing primarily because of the documented &
published reduced incidence of NEC, but when it comes to PO feeds, it seems
they always want bottle feeds first so they can measure intakes & outputs.
When that meets their specs, when babe can recycle properly and gain
properly and suck properly, then babe can go to breast.

They seem phobic about the breast because they feel it can't be measured.
Suggesting pre- post-feed weights makes their eyes glaze over. Is it
reliable? MUST have published studies. It takes too much time. Where is the
$$ to come from for a scale? Where to put it? etc.... I know, they can
weigh diapers but they can't weight babies. But the diaper scale is this
little bitty thing and a baby scale is big & expensive...

There are more excuses but you get the idea.

Phyllis
