Dear Friends:
I too am interested in the citation quoted in an earlier post, "Research
shows that babies got more volume when they nursed at both breasts per
feeding, and that weight gain was attributable to milk volume intake, not fat content.
I am thinking of the study, (by Woolridge in Lancet 1990, I believe) that
found that babies kept their daily total fat intake the same, whether mothers
used one breast/feed or two breasts/feed.
The 5th edition of Lawrence quotes a study by Nysenbaum that showed "that
infants will nurse when fat content is higher, contrary to the theory that
increasing fat causes satiation. (p. 239). Now that was something I hadn't heard
before.
Hurray for LACTNET that sends me back to the books!
    warmly,
