The tube feeding study was by Lucas, published in Lancet, I believe.
The human milk they used was drip milk - milk that passively dripped
into a breast shell worn by mothers of full term infants.  They tested
partial feedings of drip milk vs standard formula vs preterm formula
(the purpose of the study was to "test" the preterm formula) and found
that the human milk group had better iq's at age 8.  This study did
everything possible to stack the deck against human milk.
1. Drip milk is the poorest quality breastmilk, it is generally low in fat.
2. These were preterm infants given full term drip milk.
3. They were only partially human milk fed.
I'd love to see what the results would have been if exclusive feeding of
  preterm, actively expressed human milk was used.
