Denise says,

<< Since starting to write this eamil I've read Jan's response - we agree
about considering the baby in all this. Don't know why you don't want to
discuss hand expressing though, but in my experience 'getting no milk' even
once is very rare and unheard of 6 to 7 times >>

I think it might be our pumps; I certainly don't think it is the moms. And I
just didn't want to get into a discussion of hand expression and why the
hospital isn't doing that instead of using pumps. I know many are passionate
about doing hand expression instead of pumping -- and in many situations that
will work; but knowing our population here, it isn't really a viable option
for all the mothers. (It COULD be, but that's another issue entirely).
Anyway, our hospital uses Lactina pumps, and this is where I'm seeing that it
is taking sometimes as much as 5 to 7 pumpings before mom gets an appreciable
anything. (I'm talking about more than just drops around the flange here --
something that is measurable if drawn up into a syringe). This isn't always
the case of course, but it is frequently enough that I'm concerned. Has
anyone else that routinely uses Lactinas found this in their facilities?
