"Is there anything published or studied about babies under one year behaving
like a Nursing Strike after having been separated from Mom for a length of time.
I have a mom of a 6 month old in a Custody case. Baby was separated from
mom for 36 hours last weekend. When returned, refused to nurse for abou
t 10 hours. Baby was also unhappy during this time. Have heard of this
from other mom's, but would like to provide something published for her
Lawyer."

Sorry, don't know of anything published. I kept my 9 month old godchild for
10 LONG DAYS while his parents went to Europe. (Tried to talk them out of
it, but the dad insisted that they go alone.) Actually the baby was happy
the whole time and I happily fed him expressed milk from a sippy cup and he
slept with us. The mother was miserable the whole time, and probably made
dad also. When they returned, it took him about 18 hours before he would
"forgive mom" and nurse. It took lots of skin to skin. He's now 4 and still
nurses occasionally, even though he has a nursing brother and another on the
way.
