Dear Lactnet Friends:

http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0138676

A cohort from 1994-1996 in England and Wales.

Breastfeeding: "At first contact when the twins were on average 18 months
old, mothers were asked a whether they had breastfed their twins (yes/ no).
The question was asked including both twins and not for each twin
separately. Mothers also reported how long they had breastfed each twin in
days. The correlation of breastfeeding duration across twins was .97."

Nothing more than that. No exclusivity. Recall is sufficient as for
duration. And this information is not detailed in the study. Plus
breastfeeding wasn't exactly the norm in the UK in the late 90s.

It's awesome that there was a difference, even with these lousy data.

warmly,
