I'm afraid I did a lot more than mumble in response to the Minor Parent
Program teacher yesterday.  She announced to her teens when I arrived that
one of the 16 year olds had had a SIDS baby the day before.  Immediately
following the announcement, she had them "get back to work"  (no time to
process anything).  I followed her to her room and gave her some righteously
indignant education.  I only hope that I managed to season it with a little
compassion for *her* pain.  I tried but was so distraught at the unnecessary
tragedy.
