To all that responded to my query,

I thank-you. The health fair at the kid's school took place on Friday and
I gleaned suggestions from each post and it went well, I think. I brought
along my neighbor with her nearly 5 month old baby as my main visual aid.
Her baby is truly delightful! I started out by asking the kids, " What is
the best food for little babies to eat?" As you might expect, a variety of
very interesting responses were shouted out. I was surprised how even some
of the kids that I knew had been breastfed, didn't right away come up with
the correct answer without some clues offered. Fortunately for my son, he
got it right, right away. Then I quizzed them on what it was that made
breastfeeding so much better. Most didn't really know. One poor kid, when
I quoted the study regarding the higher IQ for breastfed kids, responded by
saying, "Well, I must not have been breastfed then". I then went on to talk
about the other things regarding baby care that I thought the future
babysitters and mothers and fathers of these groups should hear. Fifteen
minutes goes so fast. Each group was chaperoned by a couple of adults, some
of whom I was fairly sure had not breastfed their kids. Wish I could have
been a fly in their brain to hear the interesting thoughts I'm sure they
were having as I spouted the wonders of breastfeeding. I have a feeling
that there could be some repercussions from some who may feel offended by my
obviously biased point of view. Or possibly from some of the parents whose
kids might have gone home that day and asked, "Was I breastfed?" "Well this
lady at the health fair said I'd have been smarter if you'd breastfed me."
I'll let you all know if there's any interesting fallout.
I'm unfortunately still nomail, although I wish I had the time to keep up
on all the digests, because I love to hear all the latest.
