Reply to: pumping to induce labor

Fran,

If breastfeeding during the last months of pregnancy does not increase the
levels of oxitocin high enough to stimulate uterine contractions, I doubt that
a breast pump will. However, there are always exceptions to any rule and I am
sure that some women can be found who will claim pumping worked. Whether their
"success" may be due to a happy coincidence between time of pumping and their
"natural" hormonal climb cannot be proven nor dismissed.

Best wishes with your birth,

NIcole Bernshaw
