Questions about treating thrush with gentian violet:
How soon before a mother nurses should she put it on her nipples? Have a mother who states that she put it on and let it dry and then nursed and baby sucked it all off. Her questions was---was the dose enough for her? Should she put it on earlier? How much earlier?

This mom was told by her midwife to wipe the baby's mouth with Hydrogen peroxide before applying the gentian violet. I told her that I had not heard of that and recommeded that she not do it. Felt that would be too irritating to the baby. Comments?
