Hi everyone,
I have tried the archives but am not finding what I want. I provide support
to a small hospital with ~400 births per year that is working very hard to
support breastfeeding. We have had our share lately of moms with difficult
deliveries and subsequent babies not interested to feed in the first 24-
48hours. The nurses are all over the map as to " how long to let this baby
go" before supplementing if mom can not express colostrum. We do not have a
good policy on supplementing. I have reviewed the one from Academy of
Breastfeeding medicine which is a good one but the questions they have are
related to what indicates the need to give supps, what do we give, how much
and when. Could someone point me in the right direction to find a policy
with these specifics. Thanks in advance for your expert guidance as usual.
