Linda - I have worked with a doctor who closes episotomies with Allis
clamps.  He leaves them attached for 45 minutes to an hour - yes, without
anesthesia.  He's ready for retirement, and he has very few patients left.
Amazingly enough, those patients are fiercely loyal.

You're right.  You probably didn't want to know!
