I'm trying to think of the silver lining here: we must be making
sufficient inroads on the formula business (or they've reached market
saturation) that they have to come up with products to expand the market
niche.

Formulas for mothers during pregnancy and lactation was a logical step
after the toddler/preschooler formulas that were marketed "for picky
eaters".

If they have their way Ross and ilk will have us on formula from womb to
tomb.
