I arrived at 9:15 am with toddler in tow, stroller, large diaper bag, puffed
rice, crackers, books, doll, pillow, sippee cup - you get the picture. The
handicapped ramp was closed for repairs so I had to lug the stroller up the
stairs. The restroom had no handicapped stall so I had to leave the door
open with daughter facing me in the stroller. Anyway jury proceedings
progressed to the point of interviewing prospective jurors but at 11 am the
parties settled and we were dismissed. I do not know if the judge or one of
the attorneys would have excused me. I would have hoped so. I was told by
some other jurors-to-be that this particular judge does not excuse anyone.
BTW here we get a summons, no box to check. Of the 100 or so names that were
called during roll call for all the summoned folks to respond with a "here"
 - only about 30 did so. Lots of folks did not show up. I just glad I was
only there a short while. Those facilities were definitely not baby-friendly
and smoking was allowed in the main lobby.
