Pat:  I've helped many moms through this transition.  In fact, I'm running
out to help one right now so I'll be VERY brief...Teach breast compression
and even do it for her so she sees the effect; use NSP Distress Remedy or
Bach's Rescue Remedy to facilitate MER; teach infant massage to reduce
resistance; Have mom say "ah" before latch and praise ANY positive progress;
teach nursing in a sling and laying down (much less association it the
bottle); nurse in the bath and in a rocker; use vanilla on the breast--not
the nipple (babies love the smell). There's much more (I presented on this
at the Canadian National bf Conference and have had nice email responses to
this portion).
