I went to a developmental conferance last fall and one of the breakout
sessions was on feeding. The speaker talked about how the introduction of
solids should be a social thing in the beginning. Baby sitting up to the
table with the rest of the family and just trying out different foods, one at
a time. These early solids should not be for nutrition, just socializing and
exploring.
