I remember when mine were babies, another LLL Leader and I both went to the same Ped. (One who was very BF suportive, especially  considering the time -the 70's-oops, just gave away my age!)  We both happened to have well baby checkups the same day.  He told one of us maybe the baby should be gaining faster, so he suggested giving a formula supplement.  Not an hour later, he told the other the baby was gaining too fast, so suggested giving a formula supp;ement.  Can anyone explain how the same intervention can "solve" opposite "problems"?!  Needless to say, we both just kept nursing.  The next month, when my baby's weight was "in line" with what the doc thought it should be, I told him I did not supplement and just nursed.  His response was that it was only a "suggestion".  However, even with my knowledge, experience and assertive approach, I felt a little guilty for not doing it, so how must a "regular" mom react to such a "suggstion"?
