When Fluconazole use became popular treating candidiasis among breastfeeding women (10+ years ago), I did, as well as my patients, noticed a marked reduction in their milk supply. I discussed this with other IBCLC's and MD's and they all "concluded" that this wasn't due to the medication, but to the candidiasis condition, due to de decreased stimulation of the breast due to the pain of candidiasis.

Years later, one of my clients worked in Pfiser. I discussed my suspicions with him, and he sent me a study of milk reduction in rats treated with Fluconazole. This was about 9 years ago, and though I know is filed, I don't have access to it anymore, since I don't work in the same place.

I also know there is a relation between Fluconazole and vasospasms...but that's another story.
