Dear Yvonne,

Throughout this history you keep saying that breastfeeding is going well. And yet the baby is getting dehydrated and losing weight and mom is unable to nurse on one side due to extreme pain and I am assuming some kind of nipple trauma. This does not sound to me like breastfeeding is going well. What kind of assessment are you doing? How are the pees and poops (without an enema)? What does baby's latch and suck look/feel like? Possible newborn sepsis is nothing to fool around with, which is probably why the ped is so hesitant to stay in. Giving a 2 day old an enema for fever???

Lot's of issues here. Do you have other IBCLCs close by to consult with? Get very nervous with those who absolutely will not treat allopathically. Be careful.

Warmly,
Sharon Knorr, BSMT, ASCP, IBCLC
